Our rehairing process uses only premium, unbleached horsehair, selected for its ability to grip the string and produce a clear, consistent tone.
Rehair Services & Rates
We offer professional rehairing for the entire string family. Our rates are straightforward and reflect the specialized care required for each bow type:
- Violin / Viola: $70.00
- Cello: $75.00
- Bass: $80.00
Comprehensive Bow Repair
Beyond standard rehairing, we provide a full suite of repair services to ensure the longevity and health of your bow. These include:
- Fresh Grips & Windings: Replacing worn silver or leather to ensure a comfortable, secure hold.
- Tip Plate Replacement: Protecting the delicate head of the bow with new bone or synthetic tips.
- Eyelet & Screw Maintenance: Ensuring smooth mechanical action for perfect tensioning.
Is it time for a rehair?
Generally, we recommend a rehair every 6 to 12 months, depending on how often you play. If you notice your bow is slipping, losing hair, or the hair has become discolored, it’s likely time for a refresh.
